Royal Ascot Day 1 Tips

Starting off this renowned horse racing event this year is the Queen Anne Stakes, which will take place at 14:30 over one mile. This race usually rewards one of the largest prize pools of any race, normally sitting at about £400,000.

Up next is the six-furlong race of the Coventry Stakes horses, which are all aged 2 years old. This race is a great way to determine which juvenile horses will likely compete in top levels in later years and seasons.

Next to run is the fastest of any of the races, the King’s Stand Stakes, which take place over only five furlongs; the winning horse will simply be the horse that is the fastest, unlike other races, which are based on speed, stamina and agility.

The fourth race is the St James’ Palace Stakes which is only open to colts aged three years old; it is raced just over one mile.

Following this, the Ascot Stake horse will race; this race consists of horses from both jumps and flat codes that are aged four and up and is the longest race of the day, being two miles and four furlongs long. This race is very uncommonly won by favoured backers.

A frequent winner of the next race is John Gosden, who has won four times with four different horses. Horses must be four or older to compete in this race, and although previously a handicap race, it is now a conventional contest.

Finally, the last horse to race on day one is the Copper Horse Handicap, who are all ages four and up. These horses will race one mile and six furlongs.

Overall, this year’s Royal Ascot is bound to be just as exciting as the previous years; bettors can enjoy betting across multiple sportsbooks as each one has personalised offers and odds for this event. On day one, the infamous Queen Anne Stakes will take place, which give bettors the chance to win huge cash prizes if they predict correctly.
