Crow Wood annual charity ball hailed a huge success!

CROW Wood’s annual Charity Ball took place at Bertram’s Restaurant last week, raising over £13,000 for Pendleside Hospice, as well as supporting the Burnley Express and Salvation Army Toy Appeal.

Ahead of the event, Crow Wood donated £2,500 to the Toy Appeal, which ensured that around 605 children in 150 families woke up to gifts on Christmas morning.

Captain Maisie Veacock of the Burnley Salvation Army, who is in charge of running the appeal, said: “We received more requests for help this year but we have also been inundated with wonderful gifts and toys.

“We’re extremely grateful to Crow Wood for their generous donation and I’d like to express my thanks to all those who attended, as well as the Burnley businesses, who contributed raffle and auction prizes and made the event such a special evening!”

The event was sponsored by Travel Counsellors and attended by over 170 people, who enjoyed cocktails followed by a spectacular three course meal that was prepared by Bertram’s acclaimed Head Chef, Spencer Burge and his team.

Other event sponsors included Cassons Accountants, Ribble Farm Foods, The Woodland Spa, Neal and Wolf and Positive Solutions Creative Marketing.

The meal was followed by a charity auction that included items contributed by Crow Wood, Travel Counsellors, Holiday Inn Express, Discover Laser, Thorne Access & Security, Bertram’s Restaurant, Andrew Stephenson MP, Kimora and Pendleside Hospice.

Andrew Brown, Crow Wood’s Managing Director, said: “I would like to thank all the attendees of our annual charity ball – it was a superb evening and people showed amazing generosity in helping us raise over £13,000 for two very worthwhile local causes.

“I’m also very grateful to our headline sponsor, Travel Counsellors, for their generous contribution towards the cost of the event,” added Mr. Brown.

Christina Cope, fundraising manager at Pendleside Hospice, said: “We’re privileged to enjoy the support of the annual charity ball at Bertram’s Restaurant – it’s a significant event in the local social calendar, so we’re delighted that the money raised will help to support Pendleside Hospice.

“I’d also like to express our gratitude to all the attendees, sponsors and contributors of raffle and auction prizes. Your generosity will help us to continue delivering our service to people with life limiting illnesses and their families.”
