Lancashire firm delivers IT solution to electronics specialist

A Fylde based IT specialist is helping an electronics manufacturer to streamline its production and ordering systems and achieve greater productivity.

Smart IT has been working with GTT Europe Ltd, a leading provider of enclosure solutions for the wireless monitoring and control equipment industries, to design a new end-to-end manufacturing resource planning system.

The Lancashire firm, now a leading provider of Odoo business solutions in the UK, was called upon by GTT Europe to rapidly address its growth with an all in one modular IT solution which manages all of its processes together.

The new system allows staff to monitor stock management and sales, orders and billing processes at the click of a button, with real time information and the ability to look at current business performance on a single, easy to use online platform.

“We’re a small company with ambitious growth plans and it was pretty clear that we’d reached that critical point where we needed to integrate our management systems for greater control and efficiency,” explains GTT Europe Operations Director Andrew Bird.

“Our partnership with Smart IT came about with a bit of research and an indirect recommendation.  We evaluated Odoo and benchmarked it against other systems on the market and it seemed to be the most flexible and intuitive for our business – they then suggested that we contact Smart IT.

“They quickly got to grips with our requirements and implemented the new system over eight weeks.  We’re already seeing huge efficiencies in workflow at the push of a button.  It’s just the boost we needed to improve the way we work – and that means a better service for our clients.”

GTT Europe has grown to become a market leader in bespoke solutions supporting wireless technology companies, especially in the US.  The Oakham based firm helps electronics companies place their devices into extreme environments using technology which enables networked exchanges of information and performance of actions without manual intervention.

Examples of its work include enclosing components for vehicle tracking hardware, remote monitoring of transport infrastructure and bespoke systems for the agriculture industry.

Jacqueline Bullen from Smart IT adds: “GTT Europe’s objective was clear.  They wanted to manage their growth and increase turnover in the most cost effective way possible.  They knew they needed a system like Odoo to replace their existing CRM platform and make their management process simpler, quicker and more effective.

“One of their key points of difference is the ability to significantly cut development times to support technology companies, from first concept and prototypes through to approval, manufacture and mass production.  The new Odoo solution will ensure that this rapid response is underpinned by more efficient management systems and processes.”

Smart IT is supporting a range of growth ambitious SMEs across many different sectors and disciplines, including advanced manufacturing, energy procurement, supply chain, warehousing, food and drink production, and financial and professional services.
