North Lancs Expo , A first for North Lancashire, Celebrating 120 years of the Chamber

In celebration of its 120th anniversary, Lancaster and District Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce the launch of the North Lancs Expo, which will take place on Sunday 24th and Monday 25th September at the Lancaster Brewery. Unlike most other Expos where the focus is solely on Business to Business, the North Lancs Expo will focus both on Business to Business and Business to Consumer, with the Sunday’s emphasis being on training, skills, education and the future workplace.

It is intended that the Sunday will be more of a family day, with interactive exhibits and displays, whilst the Monday will be a networking and information day for businesses. We will have special guest speakers and break-out sessions dealing with a range of current topics on the Monday.  The event is being backed by media sponsors, The Bay Radio and www.inthebay.co.uk , ensuring that both the B2B and B2C markets are targeted to maximise exposure and attendance for exhibitors.  Live coverage on The Bay Radio will take place over both days, reaching tens of thousands of listeners across North Lancashire and South Cumbria.

Whilst the title of the Expo is “North Lancs Expo”, The Chamber is intent that it should represent the ever-growing co-operation of businesses around the Morecambe Bay Economic region. We are becoming a very economically important area within the energy generation, defence, education, and transport industries, without mentioning the new £41 million Health Innovation Campus at Lancaster University moving closer to fruition. The Health Innovation Campus will create a world-class centre of excellence for innovation and research in health. By bringing together innovators, academics, entrepreneurs, businesses, local government, citizens and health care providers, it will drive advances in technologies, products and ways of working to improve health and healthcare.

Vicky Lofthouse, Chief Executive Officer of The Chamber, said: “We are very excited at having the opportunity to run what we believe is the first Expo in the District.

“We know the problems that the area faces – skills shortages and skills retention and the Expo is the first opportunity to talk directly to the next generations about what a wonderful area we have to live, work and play in. For too long the lure of the major cities has beckoned many of our youngsters away, but we see no reason why we shouldn’t keep our future talent to ourselves.

“In addition, with the UK leaving the European Union in two years’ time, it’s an ideal time to increase the volume on the conversation regarding exporting and importing for our local and regional firms.”

The major media partnership between The Bay Radio and their B2B service, was secured by the Chamber in recent days.  Bill Johnston, Managing Director of The Bay, commented:

“Due to our huge reach across all demographics, it’s a perfect opportunity for us to team up with the Chamber to promote the best of what North Lancashire and the Morecambe Bay region has to offer.  As well as giving the event huge pre-promotional publicity to the benefit of all exhibitors and partners involved, we’ll also be live from the event on both days talking to as many exhibitors and members of the public as possible.  This really is a fantastic initiative that the Chamber is driving and we are thrilled to be part of it.”

All of the North Lancs Expo sponsorship opportunities are designed to work around and support an organisation’s marketing objectives. Used in the right way, sponsorship can clearly help to define and focus the right messages in association with the Expo and Chamber.

Sponsorship of this event will allow an organisation to cement new business relationships through a mix of formal conference/seminar sessions and informal networking opportunities.
