Curry lovers unite for Burnley homelessness charity

A charity curry evening at the award-winning Usha Restaurant has raised £1,700 for local homelessness charity Emmaus Burnley.

More than 100 supporters attended Emmaus Burnley’s Charity Curry Evening on Monday 2 October at Usha Restaurant in Burnley. Attendees enjoyed a variety of Indian dishes, a charity raffle, auction and enjoyed talks from members of the Emmaus Burnley community.

Peter Pike, supporter at Emmaus Burnley and organiser of the event, said: “It was another fantastic fundraising evening at Usha Restaurant and I would like to give sincere thanks to all those who joined us on the night. Our charity curry evenings have proved very popular this year and we are already thinking about the next one.”

Emmaus Burnley supports formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home and meaningful work for as long as they need it. The charity operates two social enterprises in Burnley and Accrington with all the money raised used to support the community of people who live and work at Emmaus Burnley.

Stephen Buchanan, Director at Emmaus Burnley, said: “Once again the team at Usha Restaurant pulled out all the stops and hosted another great event in support of Emmaus Burnley. It was nice to see lots of employees from local businesses and organisations get behind this event, enjoying the tasty food on offer, all for a good cause.”
