Cuadrilla and Community Foundation Make a Winning Team

A ground-breaking education programme is hitting the right spot with young adults thanks to a partnership between Cuadrilla and AFC Fylde Community Foundation.

It is the first year that the Community Foundation has been delivering the innovative Fustal Scholars Education Programme – made possible by the support of Cuadrilla and Centrica – and it is already exceeding all expectations.

The nationally recognised and respected programme offers young adults aged between the age of 16-18 a first-class education alongside playing Futsal on a full-time basis.

The scholars on the course work towards achieving the qualifications needed to carry them through to further education. At the same time, they can also travel and compete in Futsal games across the North West.

There are 18 participants on the current Futsal course and each of them is working incredibly hard to achieve the most successful outcomes. But their efforts are not going unrewarded. They are set to visit Slovenia in February as part of an educational but enjoyable trip to watch the Futsal championships with their teammates.

Foundation Director Tom Hutton says it is the support of Cuadrilla and Centrica that has enabled the programme to become established so quickly, benefiting many young people in the local community.

He said: “The Foundation’s education programmes are something we take great pride in delivering and ensuring we keep at an exceptionally high standard. Our partnership work enables us to take our offer to a different level, which we would not normally be able to do.

“With the support of Cuadrilla and Centrica we can really push these programmes and ensure that the participants are receiving the best standard of education possible.”
