Charitable donations successfully delivered

John Turner’s employee led charity group, TLC has collaborated with local retailer, Lawrence Hunt & Co following the success of the festive raffle which raised £3,343 for The Trussell Trust.

From the funds raised, groceries have been donated to The Trussell Trust foodbanks in the three locations where John Turner operates; Preston, Merseyside and Manchester. Lawrence Hunt & Co / SPAR, who have stores across the North West, have provided and very generously distributed the provisions to the foodbanks.

With The Trussell Trust being inundated with donations during the festive period, we were asked to delay our offerings to a time when people who used the foodbanks were more in need.

Lawrence Hunt & Co is a Lancashire based family business with 27 stores, nine Post Offices and three Subway outlets across the North West. Lawrence Hunt’s parents, Jack and Elizabeth, opened the original village store in Walmer Bridge which became a SPAR shop in 1956 when the brand was introduced to the UK. Now employing over 500 staff, Lawrence Hunt & Co’s head office is located above their concept store in Penwortham.

Keeping it in the family, grandson of Jack is Kevin Hunt who is now the Managing Director and son of Lawrence who retired in 1999. Kevin is joined by his own son making it four generations in the business.

The Trussell Trust operates a network of foodbanks across the UK and gives emergency food and support to people in crisis, where thirteen million people live below the poverty line.
