Motionlab develops engaging digital store for emerging cosmetics brand

Lancashire digital agency Motionlab, a leading integrated agency specialising in building brands in the digital world, has successfully fashioned a new e-commerce solution for I Love Cosmetics, one of the UK’s most loved bath & body brands.

Motionlab was given the opportunity to develop the new e-commerce site which was built in-house using the world’s number one e-commerce platform, Magento 2. The site conveys the brand’s passion for invigorating and unique fragrances across its entire bath, body and skin care range.

Since launch, the site has seen a 93% increase in web visits and over 1000% increase in social traffic.

To inform the web build and to understand the impact of each marketing channel in time for the site’s recent launch, the marketing team at Motionlab conducted an intensive brand analysis programme to fully understand I Love’s position in the sector and to identify opportunities that could be capitalised on across the buyer’s journey.

Motionlab’s marketers have also been generating sales for the new website that exceed average industry metrics through content marketing, paid advertising, display advertising, social media adverts and targeted emails.

A strategy was formed through an extensive marketing plan to incorporate all these elements as well as a tactical content plan to formulate blog and user generated content. It presents I Love as a fun, stylish and appealing brand with personality.

Motionlab CEO, Simon Iredale, said: “Prior to this project I Love Cosmetics already enjoyed an impressive global fan base, but our radical transformation of their website and the accompanying marketing we’re utilising is helping them push new boundaries with scent, reinvent their brand perception and acquire new audiences at home and abroad.

“Our focus now is on further developing the brand’s online presence to increase sales, through various channels and digital tactics – so watch this space!”

Marketing Manager at I Love Cosmetics, Donna Robinson, said: “Our mission from the very beginning has been to become one of the UK’s best-selling beauty brands. The new digital platform crafted by Motionlab massively strengthens our online presence and is befitting of a world-class beauty brand. It better positions us to standout in this most competitive of digital landscapes.”

The brand was established in the UK in 2009 by founder and managing director James Brown.

I Love Cosmetics’ bath and body assortment includes Bath & Shower Crèmes, Body Butter, Spritzers & Bath Fizzers, in a range of fruity flavours. The range is regularly refreshed with beautiful scents such as Mango & Papaya, Raspberry & Blackberry, Strawberries & Cream and Coconut & Cream, as well as dessert inspired favourites such as Minty Choc Chip & Chocolate Fudge Cake.

Committed to sourcing and manufacturing the vast majority of its products from UK suppliers, I Love won the Queens Award for International Trade in 2013.
