East Lancashire employment business provides employment support to HMRC staff

Blackburn-based employment specialists, Cummins Mellor, has delivered its bespoke employability packages to staff from the Blackburn branch of HMRC whom are sadly set to be made redundant this year.

The 12 attendees who took part in the session were advised on how to approach their career search, given information surrounding the local employment market and received practical advice on CV writing and interviews.

This is one of many services provided by Cummins Mellor who guide candidates seamlessly through their career journey to finding a new position. From interview coaching to consultancy on career development, Cummins Mellor commits to ensuring that candidates have the best work finding experience and achieve their career ambitions within Lancashire businesses.

The practical and interactive session, which was specifically tailored to the Public Sector, ensured that attendees left feeling informed and comfortable about taking the next steps in their career journey.

A post-training survey found that participants felt 100% more confident in their ability to secure themselves a new role following the session.

One applicant commented: “Over the years I feel I’ve lost my confidence. One hour here has given me that confidence back”!

Dee Hartley, Coordinator at HMRC Blackburn, said: “Suddenly the world of private industry doesn’t seem as scary as we thought it would be. Many of us have worked for HMRC for over 30 years and the thought of going into the private sector was incredibly daunting.

“Cummins Mellorhase not only alleviated our fears but gave us a very positive, and well needed, confidence boost. The session was extremely beneficial and it was great to be given an opportunity for us to explore our transferable skills and understand how they can benefit future employers.

“We’ve all left feeling much more positive about the future and look forward to the next chapter in our lives.”
