Pink Link kicks off heels for Born Survivor

The Pink Link ladies have kicked off heels and took on Born Survivor, a 10k military assault course, to raise funds for their Lancaster members, Unique Kidz and Co.

Set in the beautiful Capesthorne Hall estate in Cheshire, the 33 obstacles were designed by former Royal Marines Commandos to challenge strength, stamina and phobias. Deep water, thick odorous mud, confined spaces, slippery heights and heavy weights tested the mettle of the Pink Link team who combined dogged determination and camaraderie to complete the course in 3 hrs 25 mins.

The Pink Link team of 12 raised £1,699 at the Born Survivor event. Unique Kidz & Co ran the event’s bag-drop which brought in another £1,716. With a total of 49 fundraisers, the charity managed to raise a total of £7,585 from the whole event.

Coral Horn, founder of Pink Link said: “We have worked together with Unique Kidz and Co for 10 years. We thought Born Survivor would be a great way to show our support for this fabulous charity. They provide a fantastic service and deserve to be recognised for the amazing work they do in the community. We were filthy and exhausted with war wounds that were worth every penny that we raised.”

Unique Kidz and Co offer play, social and support activities for disabled children and young adults at their centre in Morecambe. Spokesperson for the charity, Jordan Halpin said “Sometimes children and young adults with disabilities don’t get the opportunity to experience exciting new things. The money raised at Born Survivor will go towards a summer of fun for the children and young adults that come to Unique Kidz and Co including activities like rock-climbing, abseiling and canoeing! From the fantastic amount raised, we will be able to create life-long memories for everyone!”
