BAKO Appoints Group Commercial Director

Preston-headquartered bakery products distributor BAKO North Western Group has appointed David Armstrong as Group Commercial Director.

David has spent his career in retail and wholesale including M&S, Safeway, ASDA and Makro, as well as BAKO UK previously between 2007-2009. For the past seven years David has worked at SPAR UK as Head of Trading, where he was responsible for its own brand ranges.

Established over fifty years, BAKO North Western Group distributes bakery products to customers across the UK from three national depots. With a multi-temperature fleet of over 70 vehicles, the company provides independent bakers and caterers with a wide range of ingredients and finished products from quality suppliers, as well as its own BAKO Select branded range.

Mr Armstrong said: “I’m very happy to be back at BAKO and I am really excited about the opportunities ahead. While these are undoubtedly challenging times for many, BAKO is really leading the way in developing innovative solutions and finding inventive new ways to support the industry as a whole. With one of the most advanced multi-food product warehousing and distribution systems in the country, BAKO is in a really good position to help spearhead the independent bakery sector’s recovery and I’m really looking forward to the road ahead.”

BAKO Group CEO Mike Tully said: “I’m delighted that David had re-joined the business and I am looking forward to working with him and his team to drive the business to new levels over the next few years.”

BAKO North Western Group’s full list of divisions includes BAKO North Western, BAKO Northern and Scotland, and BAKO South Eastern.

Its industry accreditations include the BRC Global Standard for Storage and Distributions, ISO9001 Quality Management and ISO14001 Environmental Management.
