Boutique Lancaster agency’s Advent of Change Christmas designs help raise £75k to date for charity

Lancaster-based Utter Creatives landed the boutique design agency’s biggest success, to date, beating off competition from larger companies across the UK, when it won the job of designing this year’s prestigious Advent of Change advent calendars and their range of Christmas fundraising merchandise. The calendars, luxury candles, crackers that contain celebrity “best bad jokes”, and other items are currently on sale in John Lewis, partner stores and online. “It’s been a career highlight for me,” said director Dee Darcy, “and amazing to see my agency’s work appear so prominently on the high street for the very first time.”

Since the launch, the products have raised £75k, with this year’s calendars aiming to raise a record amount of £350k.

Advent of Change is a non-profit organisation with a mission to make the world a more fair, equal and sustainable place by creating beautiful products that donate to, and raise awareness for, multiple charities with one single purchase. Their best-selling advent calendars will provide much-needed support for 48 charities in 2020.

“Advent of Change Founder Kristina Salceanu says: “The early response to our new range has been incredibly positive, and the funds we raise from the sales will be in a large part down to Dee and her amazing work.”

“Kristina was looking for someone who had packaging experience and with illustrating skills, explained Dee. The job wasn’t without its challenges… each of the 24 advent calendar doors reveals a recipient charity and tells how purchasers’ money will be used. But it was great fun and it’s been amazing to see the designs in John Lewis and partner stores, and even featured in Hello! Magazine.”

Kristina added: “We have utterly loved working with Utter Creatives. Dee’s eye for design and instinctive understanding of branding – and our brand in particular – is the thing that stood out for me right away, and what has made working together so easy and enjoyable.

She has been able to seamlessly transition her style between our products, whilst still being distinctively Advent of Change, as well as creating innovative concepts, spanning premium looks, to fun, engaging children’s items.”
