Darren joins Jones Melling’s building surveying team

North West property and construction advisory firm, Jones Melling, has appointed chartered building surveyor, Darren Midgley, to further strengthen its team.

Darren previously worked at AHR Building Consultancy and has worked on significant regeneration projects across the UK.

Qualifying in 2014 with an honours degree in building surveying, Darren also has a diploma in home inspection, and qualified as a chartered building Surveyor in July 2019.

Darren brings to Jones Melling experience across a wide range of building surveying services including condition surveys, defect diagnosis and contract administration, as well as expertise with planning and building regulations applications. He has particular experience in transport and education.

With a keen interest in historic architecture, Darren was part of the building surveying team that helped to modernise several listed railway stations, including London Paddington and Chippenham, improving the passenger experience in a manner sympathetic to the stations’ heritage.

Jones Melling director, Gary Melling, based at the firm’s Preston office said: “Darren is the second chartered building surveyor we have recruited in as many months. The demand for our surveying services has risen significantly since construction and building work has resumed onsite across the country. Darren has already proven he can hit the ground running and is making a great contribution to the team.

“His previous experience in the transport sector will certainly be an asset to the firm and an area we will be keen to develop.”

Darren said: “I look forward to joining a growing team of professionals and being able to develop my surveying skills. I enjoy working in a hands-on environment with the opportunity to work across a wide range of sectors too. Jones Melling ticks all the boxes for me.”

Darren resides in the Calder Valley and in his spare time enjoys walking, cycling and skiing.
