Create Homes supports ‘Elswick In Bloom’

Luxury House Builder, Create Homes has supported Elswick village in its ‘Britain In Bloom’ and ‘North West In Bloom’ competition aspirations with a donation. This financial support has helped the ‘Elswick in Bloom’ team to continue their success in the finals this year, with prestigious wins in both competitions. The donation was used to buy plants for the enjoyment of all villagers, as well as supporting the team in the creation of the new village green, which is opposite Create Homes’ quality new housing development, Chapel Mill.

ELSWICK IN BLOOM AWARDS

The ’Elswick In Bloom’ team attained a Gold Award at the ‘Britain in Bloom’ competition finals on 10th October 2022, with the outstanding accolade of ‘Best Village’, and although ‘Elswick in Bloom’ missed out on the ‘Champion of Champions’ award this year, (an award which they won in 2017), they did achieve ‘Best In Bloom Village’ at the ‘North West In Bloom’ awards final on the 20th October at the Bolton Stadium Hotel. This is the tenth consecutive time they have achieved this award. The team also picked up the ‘Environmental Quality’ award for the new village green at the event.

During the competition, Elswick was featured on the BBC’s ‘One Show’, in which the hard work of the ‘Elswick In Bloom’ team and the local community was showcased, including footage of the new village green, which was created for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.

The Chairman of Elswick Parish Council Paul Hayhurst commented: “The money has been used to restock some of the flower beds with perennial flowers which will keep the village looking beautiful for many years to come. The judges were particularly impressed with our new village green and pond, which is where our partnership with Create Homes is most exciting.”

Over 50 volunteers, young and old, work hard to maintain and plant over 10,000 flowers and shrubs to make the village look stunning all year round, taking care of its many manicured flowerbeds & planters, the new village green, community orchard and wildflower meadow, whilst considering the needs of wildlife and the environment.

Georgia Bridge, Area Sales Manager at Create Homes said: “We would like to congratulate Elswick in Bloom for the fantastic achievements they have made in the competition in both this, and previous years. We are so impressed by the continual efforts that the team and volunteers put in to make the village look so fantastic. We know that our buyers will appreciate the hard work and I’m sure that many of the future residents at Chapel Mill will be excited to get involved in this valuable work in the community.
