Appointment of Amanda Sumner strengthens PHX’s senior team

A leading Lancashire training provider has strengthened its management team with an experienced new appointment.

Amanda Sumner has joined PHX Training as business manager at the company’s Preston office, where she will lead the team in helping local people learn new skills and gain employment.

Amanda, who hails from Preston, has over 30 years’ experience in the training industry, having previously worked as a tutor and assessor, as well as in International Quality Assurance (IQA) compliance and the evaluation of funded projects.

PHX Training has centres across Lancashire and Cumbria, and runs training courses to help people get back in to work, as well as upskilling employees across the region.

The company recently celebrated the milestone of having delivered 10,000 qualifications, helping 7,500 people in the North West to learn new skills and find employment.

Amanda said: “Our Preston centre is a place where people can access information, resources and support to help them start their development journeys, whether that’s gaining a new qualification or putting together a CV and starting to look for work. I’m really looking forward to using my experience to help people achieve their goals.”

Briony Fawcett, Managing Director at PHX Training, said: “Amanda’s experience and understanding of the industry is invaluable, making her the perfect person to lead our Preston team and help make a difference to people’s lives.”

PHX offers a range of training and vocational courses, including basic English and maths and IT skills, up to specific work sectors qualifications in health and social care, warehousing and business administration.

It also supports people back in to work by building training plans and careers advice, free access to computers and printers, CV writing workshops and interview techniques, as well as access to local employers who are hiring.
