Life360 Rolls Out Immediate Landing Alerts Within App for Air Travel Updates

  • Rolling out this week, the product update alerts Life360 members when someone from their circle touches down from a flight.
  • The feature offers families added peace of mind as the 2024 travel season ramps up and is available to all Life360 members.

Set your sights on the skies! Life360, the top application for family safety and location sharing, serving over 66 million active users each month, is excited to reveal its latest in-app development today: Landing Notifications. This innovative function alerts members instantly when a Circle member completes a flight, bringing added reassurance to families. With its launch this week, Landing Notifications are designed to make tracking the travel movements of family members more straightforward for every Life360 user.

“As we introduce Landing Notifications, our aim remains consistent: to elevate the experience for our valued members,” Chris Hulls, Founder and CEO of Life360, stated. “We are committed to equipping our members with tools that streamline their daily lives. We recognise the significance of travel within our community, and thus, Landing Notifications embodies our dedication to keeping our members seamlessly connected with their loved ones.”

The Landing Notifications feature within the Life360 app offers a direct, up-to-the-minute alternative to the often delayed or erroneous information from typical flight tracking services, or the wait for updates from travellers themselves. Without the need for detailed flight information, the app capably tracks flights both within the country and internationally. Utilising the smartphone’s sensors to assess location, altitude, and speed, Life360’s advanced flight detection algorithm accurately discerns the timings of takeoff and landing, ensuring accuracy even when the device is in airplane mode, with Circle members being promptly notified once the traveller reconnects to a network.

Furthermore, with the introduction of Landing Notifications, a new movement symbol in the form of an aeroplane icon will be featured on the Life360 map for the first time. This symbol allows users to visually track a Circle member’s flight status. The app distinguishes between different types of movement with specific icons, offering real-time insight into the whereabouts of Circle members. These clear icons, combined with Focus Mode, offer a snapshot of a Circle member’s current speed and location at a glance.

Life360, with a vast user base exceeding 66 million globally and four million in the UK, enables its members to share their live locations and movements with their inner circle effortlessly. In addition to location sharing and Landing Notifications, Life360’s comprehensive array of features includes driving analytics, collision detection, emergency services, and more, all aimed at enhancing safety and connectivity. With the acquisition of Tile, the Bluetooth tracker brand, Life360 allows users to include key items in their Life360 map, ensuring everything from vehicles to pets can be tracked effortlessly, offering complete peace of mind for families.
