LESEP begins tendering for additional delivery partners for young people skills Project

The Lancashire Employment and Skills Executive Partnership (LESEP) has today begun procuring additional partners to deliver its ‘Moving On’ project and is inviting local subcontractors to apply.

LESEP secured £4m in May 2016 from the Skills Funding Agency European Social Fund to deliver Moving On across Lancashire, which will support 15 to 18-year-olds who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or at risk of becoming NEET through re-engagement activities and providing personalised packages of support to tackle attendance, attainment, performance and behavioural issues.

Subcontracts will be available for activities delivered from March 2017 to July 2018. The project aims to improve education, employability and personal skills of 2,539 young people across Lancashire enabling them to move on successfully into work or further learning opportunities, including Apprenticeships.

Focusing on offering support to move on rather than concentrating on previous barriers, the project includes mentoring and coaching, support with Maths and English and work experience placements to help young people succeed.

LESEP is a collaboration between The Lancashire Colleges and the Lancashire Work Based Learning Executive Forum, and the partnership comprises 23 FE colleges and Independent training providers across the county. Preston’s College is the lead accountable body for the project and delivers it alongside LESEP members together with a network of skilled additional partners to meet local needs.

Lisa Bloomfield, Training 2000 and LESEP Board member, said: “We’re urging all local organisations that help to make a real difference to the lives of young people to apply.

“What we’re really looking for is a strong track record of working with those who are most likely to face multiple barriers to participation including young offenders, looked after children and care leavers, young parents/carers, those with drug and alcohol abuse issues, or emotional, behavioural or mental health issues.”

Tenders will close at 12 noon on Monday 6 February 2017 and can be made, along with additional information available, at www.in-tendhost.co.uk/fe

Organisations that are already members of LESEP’s Moving On provider network and hold a subcontract for delivery of the project with Preston’s College need not apply.
