Fagan & Whalley scheme completes at Burnley Bridge

Eshton’s latest Burnley Bridge development for road haulage experts, Fagan & Whalley Ltd, has completed on time.

Eshton appointed GMI Construction to deliver the building over a 36 week period.  The unit, which was funded by Yorkshire Bank, was handed to Fagan and Whalley on at the end of May 2017.

The new 92,000 sq ft accommodation stands on a 10 acre site and provides parking for up to 80 trailers, with 10 loading bays and 25,000 pallet locations. The development will serve as a major distribution hub for the family-run firm, dramatically increasing its warehousing capacity.

At 19 metres high, the building is the second largest on Eshton’s Burnley Bridge site to date.

Stephen Fagan, commercial director at Fagan & Whalley, said: “We worked closely with Eshton and GMI Construction to design the building to meet our current and future business needs and are delighted to see our vision has come to life and exceeded our expectations.

“The new distribution hub is located at the heart of our long-standing customer base and just one junction down from our existing operations facility and company headquarters. We’re ready to move in and begin our operations from Burnley Bridge.”

James Chapman, managing director at Eshton, added: “Our vision for Burnley Bridge has been to create a thriving business hub since we acquired the brownfield site.

“We’ve worked hard to regenerate the area as well as creating new employment opportunities so it’s great to see another successful development complete on the site. The new distribution hub for Fagan & Whalley not only supports the growth strategy of a local company but will create new jobs in the area and boost the community.”

Andy Bruce, managing director of GMI Construction Group, concluded: “We’re delighted to have worked with Eshton on another project at Burnley Bridge, having previously constructed Magnesium Court and Cobalt House.

“It’s always exciting to hand over a scheme that’s been successfully delivered on time and to clients’ expectations. We’re sure the excellent location and new facilities will see Fagan & Whalley continue to go from strength to strength.”

Located at junction 9 of the M65, Burnley Bridge provides modern industrial and warehousing accommodation. Over 750,000 sq ft has been delivered to date, housing a range of businesses including YESSS Electrical, Birchall Foodservice, Equinox Building Solutions, Townsend Music and Exertis.

The scheme has been extended with the addition of a new ten-acre development, Titanium Park, where businesses are able to acquire land for bespoke accommodation.
