Cheesemonger Singletons sold to Preston-based Carron Lodge

Based in Longridge and trading as Singletons & Co, the family run business had been handcrafting award winning cheeses in the UK for more than 80 years. Singletons Dairy was founded in 1934 by Dullia and Robert Singleton, whose family had been making cheese since the 18th century. The company supplied produce to both retail and wholesale, as well as exporting to over 30 countries worldwide.

Kroll has confirmed the sale of Preston-based cheesemaker and cheesemonger, Singleton’s Dairy Limited, to local family run producer Carron Lodge, based in Inglewhite.

The sale was completed on 22 December 2022 and includes the trading premises, as well as tangible assets and branding including the famous Grandma Singletons cheese.

In August 2022, the Company went into administration and Kroll’s Andrew Knowles and Steven Muncaster were appointed as joint administrators.

Andrew Knowles, Senior Director, Kroll said: “Singleton’s and many of its brands have a well-established reputation for quality products both locally and abroad. With the completion of this deal, we’re pleased that this long-standing tradition will continue into the future.”

The deal was supported by Taylors Solicitors and Sanderson Weatherall, who provided legal and property advisory.
