New name for AG signals growth

Manchester and Preston-based AG Project + Building Consultancy has rebranded and renamed as it expands its services and plans ambitious growth in new sectors.

Earlier this year, AG experienced significant growth in the financial year ending March 2022, seeing its turnover exceed £3 million and advising and managing over £100 million worth of construction projects.

The new name, AG Built Environment Consultancy, will reflect its growth and transition from a building surveying firm established in 2007 to a consultancy providing a broader set of project and development advisory services.

Jonathan Shaw, AG Built Environment’s managing director, commented on the firm’s new direction. He said, “Our objective was to transition our business to offer advice on the wider range of issues facing our current client base and enable us to expand into supporting new sectors”.

“We’ve grown the business to now house over 40 experts advising clients across a range of sectors on how they can best create sustainable neighbourhoods, vibrant towns and cities, better buildings and value our green spaces. We felt it was important to reflect that more rounded approach.”

The firm also recently increased its Manchester presence by taking additional space at its Canada House office, boosting its headcount while winning places on the frameworks of Fusion 21 and the JV North, which total £680 million.

It also recruited new teams to develop the firm’s growing presence in the housing sector while also launching a new Sustainability and Energy Performance Advisory service. The firm’s senior management is also considering additional regional offices in the next 12 months.

Shaw also explained rebranding was key to helping attract talent to the growing business. He concluded. “While we are dealing with tangible assets, much of what makes a place is people, and our firm is more than a bunch of specialisms and services. Expertise is the currency we trade in, but our personality sets us apart.

“We want to show our future colleagues that becoming a part of AG is more than an opportunity to develop their careers, but they are genuinely making a positive difference to the communities and environment we’re helping to create.”
