IT Firm Commits to NHS Cost Savings and Carbon Emission Reduction by Repairing Staff Mobile Phones

Multimessage, an IT company, has recently secured a government tender to provide mobile phone repair services for public sector organizations. This initiative enables NHS staff across the UK to easily and efficiently repair their mobile phones, as part of the company’s commitment to sustainability and carbon emission reduction within the public sector. With a streamlined framework designed for efficient repairs, Multimessage’s service will save the NHS both time and money.

“It is our shared responsibility to reduce electronic waste and extend the lifespan of devices through repair or refurbishment. Public sector organizations should consider partnering with Multimessage through the national framework for electronic device repair services. Our solutions improve sustainability, enhance fault management efficiency, and reduce costs associated with replacing faulty devices.” – Rob Cunnane, Managing Director, Multimessage.

The NHS Confederation reported that NHS funding growth slowed to 1.4% per year between 2010/11 and 2018/19, significantly lower than the historical average of 3.7% per year in real terms since 1948. As pressure mounts to allocate more funding to the NHS, Multimessage aims to contribute to cost savings within the organization. The expense of replacing mobile phones can burden public sector entities like the NHS, and any saved funds can be redirected to more critical areas of healthcare.

A study by Deloitte revealed that smartphones generate 83% of their lifetime emissions in their first year, with most emissions stemming from the manufacturing process. In light of increasing concerns about climate change, the NHS can play its part by extending the lifespan of devices, thereby reducing emissions and promoting sustainability. This commitment ensures that the NHS and its operations remain resilient for long-term success.
