Northlight wins in first ever Lancashire Property Awards

Pendle Borough Council’s partnership with the Northlight development at Brierfield has been recognised and rewarded in the first ever Lancashire Property Awards.

PEARL (Brierfield Mill) Limited won Commercial Development of the Year in the awards that celebrate the best of the county’s property sector, recognising outstanding achievements, innovation and commitment to excellence.

The announcement was made during a ceremony at The Winter Garden in Blackpool, which showcased excellence from the worlds of real estate, construction and design.

Barnfield won the award for its commitment to excellence in the property development sector and its dedication to fostering strong partnerships within the community, including its work with Pendle Borough Council.

Northlight stood out for its outstanding achievement in a challenging area. The judges described it as the culmination of a joined-up joint venture with multiple stakeholders. It’s a benchmark scheme that shows the scale of what can be achieved through pioneering partnerships.

“We’re delighted that Northlight has been recognised in the prestigious Lancashire Property Awards,” said Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council.

“To win with Barnfield Investment Properties in the Commercial Development of the Year is amazing.

“Together we’ve transformed a former cotton mill in Brierfield and created new homes, education, employment and cultural facilities in the iconic grade 2 listed building.”

Northlight is providing a better quality of life for local people, has supported a range of local businesses, created hundreds of jobs, secured much-needed housing and regenerated a dilapidated site.

Tim Webber, chairman of Barnfield Group, said: “Northlight is quite simply a beacon for Pendle and a shining example of how a public/private sector partnership can deliver.

“We are very proud to have won this award, our collaboration with Pendle Borough Council has been instrumental in achieving this success.

“We are committed to continuing to deliver exceptional developments that contribute to the growth and vitality of our region.”

Rose Rouse, chief executive of Pendle Borough Council, said: “Our public-private partnerships are a big part of how we deliver in Pendle, and for us to be recognised in these awards with our joint venture partner, Barnfield, is wonderful.”
