SENIOR MANAGEMENT APPOINTMENT AT THE CUMBERLAND IN PRESTON

The Cumberland has made a key managerial appointment in Preston. Laura Short, the new area business development manager, will aim to grow the award-winning building society’s business in the region.

Laura joins The Cumberland with 15 years industry experience, having started a career in retail management at 17.

She entered the financial sector with NatWest and quickly moved on to Entwistle Green, where she spent 12 years as an executive manager, most recently running its flagship city centre office in Preston.

The Cumberland, one of the most successful building societies in the country, has a total of 34 branches across the North West, including its Preston branch based on Fishergate.

Laura said: “I will be looking to develop close links with employers, professionals, schools and colleges and the broader community to build relationships and increase awareness of our tremendous products and services.”

“The Cumberland offers a meaningful alternative to the high street banks. We aim to provide great value financial products in a friendly and uncomplicated way, and I’d encourage anyone that hasn’t dealt with us before to visit our Preston branch to see why we have the happiest banking customers in the UK. Our award winning mortgages and our innovative estate agency proposition really could save you money.”

The Cumberland recently announced underlying profit after tax this year of £14.82 million, an increase of over 17 per cent on the previous year – a result which sees the Cumberland remain one of the most successful building societies in the UK.
