Leading Lancashire building group Construction Partnership UK (CPUK Group) has completed a multi-million pound state-of-the-art warehouse and office facility for development giant Peel Group.
CPUK’s 20th project for Peel has seen the company create the 50,000 sq ft new headquarters for freight logistics group Rhenus Logistics at the emerging Port Salford freight terminal.
The site on the Manchester Ship Canal is strategically located at the UK’s first tri-modal inland port facility and gives Rhenus’ customers access to some of the fastest and most efficient routes into and out of the UK.
The Boysnope Wharf warehouse and infrastructure project is expected to be fully operational by the end of this year and its construction harnesses the combined skills of two CPUK Group operations – CPUK Construction and CPUK Civils and Remediation.
The group is now offering its clients a full in-house construction and development service – from demolition and site remediation to building work.
The new warehouse and office development occupies a 3.3 acre site designated within the Port Salford development area and includes 10,000 sq ft of offices for the freight logistics giant.
CPUK Civils and Remediation extensively remediated and stabilised the site using its specialist equipment. The two-storey steel frame building followed, supported by the installation of more than 750 concrete piles.
Construction work also involved improvement to the existing access and provision of a new drainage outfall into the Manchester Ship Canal.
In addition, CPUK Group provided 16 dock levellers and shelters, a service yard, car parking and external landscaping. The development has been designed by Manchester-based Bate and Taylor Architects.

“The successful remedial work, construction and handover involved two specialist divisions within CPUK working together to deliver an efficient and cost-effective development for Peel Group.
“The remediation work we carried out on the Port Salford site mitigated the majority of the material required to be disposed from the site and significantly reduced the stone imported by up to 85%, providing both time and cost savings.
“It is this all-round solution-finding approach that is helping us to win new work in all sectors.
“We were also really pleased to be working with Peel Group again on our 20th project for the company.”
