ANDOVER, UK. July 15th, 2026 – The market for premium sports trading cards continues to gain momentum, fuelled by increasing global demand for rare football collectibles and record-setting sales of iconic cards. With interest in high-end sealed products remaining strong, collectors are continuing to seek out some of the hobby’s most prestigious releases.
In response to that demand, UK collectibles retailer Mania Sports has partnered with eBay to present a live break of a sealed case of 2018 Panini National Treasures FIFA World Cup Soccer. Now estimated to be worth between £20,000 and £25,000, the case will be opened live on the Mania Sports eBay Live channel this Sunday at 12:00pm. Collectors can secure a place in the break from just £1.
Market forecasts suggest the trading card industry will continue its upward trajectory over the coming years, supported by growing participation in sports collectibles, expanding online marketplaces and the popularity of live breaking events. Football has emerged as one of the hobby’s strongest categories, with rare cards featuring legends such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo commanding exceptional prices.
When 2018 Panini National Treasures World Cup Soccer was first released, sealed cases sold for under $2,000. Today, unopened cases are commonly valued at more than £20,000, highlighting the product’s reputation as one of football card collecting’s most desirable modern releases.
The checklist features serial-numbered autograph and memorabilia cards from many of the game’s greatest players, including Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, Luka Modrić, Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, Antoine Griezmann and Diego Maradona. Among the most sought-after cards are Mbappé’s rookie-era base card, limited to only 50 copies, together with scarce autograph cards of Messi and Ronaldo.
Instead of purchasing an entire case, collectors can take part by bidding on individual national teams. Every card pulled for their assigned team belongs to them, offering a more affordable way to experience opening one of the hobby’s premier products.
“You don’t need £20,000 to experience opening one of the hobby’s most iconic products,” said James Barber, CEO and Founder of Mania Sports.
“Partnering with eBay gives collectors around the world the opportunity to join the excitement of this live break from just £1, making an incredible product accessible to far more people.”
Mania Sports encourages everyone taking part to enjoy the collecting experience and only spend within their personal budget.
The live break begins at 12:00pm on Sunday via the Mania Sports eBay Live channel. Additional information, participation details and the complete product checklist are available at maniahobby.com.
