CPUK wins Coventry student contract

Lancashire builder Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) Group is bringing the ‘twodio’ living concept to Coventry alongside more traditional student accommodation.

33 Parkside, just 650m from Coventry University, is a multi-level development with accommodation for 262 residents in the form of 185 single bed studios, 31 ‘twodio’ apartments and 15 single bed mezzanine studios.

The site is located directly opposite Severn Trent’s headquarters and the completed building will rise up to 12 storeys high. 33 Parkside is conveniently located within 7 minutes’ walk to the main University campuses, city centre and Coventry train station.

‘Twodios’ are the latest trend in young people’s accommodation acting as a bridge between undergraduate living and more traditional forms of housing.

There are two private en-suite bedrooms with a shared kitchen in each apartment helping to maximise space and keep rental costs down.

These are the first ‘twodios’ to be built by CPUK and 33 Parkside is the latest in a string of student accommodation contracts being carried out by CPUK across the UK.

Steve Burke, CPUK Group managing director, said: “This new development is another student accommodation project for CPUK and demonstrates the continued strength of the new-build student sector.

“We are seeing demand for our services from specialist accommodation providers and developers in towns and cities across the country as they look to bring their high-quality schemes out of the ground.

“This latest development in Coventry will offer students high-quality accommodation once completed.

“Over the years we have seen student accommodation providers become ever more sophisticated in what they offer to the market.

“Student halls of residence are a maturing sector and the ‘twodio’ concept offers students a new, more exclusive option when choosing their accommodation.

“33 Parkside is a well, designed, contemporary scheme that is sure to attract large demand from Coventry’s student community and will be a flagship development for our client.”

The scheme for Coventry Parkside Developments LLP has been designed by Manchester-based O’Connell East Architects and CPUK expected to complete by December 2018.

Coventry Parkside Developments says: “This is an exciting time for Coventry and we are extremely pleased to be a part of the city’s on-going transformation.

“This uniquely high-end student accommodation scheme will allow young people to flourish in a contemporary and exciting environment.”

CPUK Group is one of the North West’s leading independent building and civil engineering companies with an annual turnover of £50 million.

Founded in March 2000, the business operates from purpose-built headquarters at White Moss Business Park in Skelmersdale.

It enjoys an exceptional reputation in the fields of Traditional and Design and Build construction schemes with more than 80% of contracts undertaken on a repeat business basis with blue chip clients.

CPUK Group also includes a Civils & Remediation division, which means the company is now offering a full in-house construction and development service to clients – from demolition and site remediation to building work – all based at CPUK’s headquarters in Skelmersdale.

CPUK Group has achieved Investors in People Status and is Constructionline and CHAS accredited for major schemes in excess of £5 million.
