Health Innovation at Lancaster to Push the Boundaries

A Health Innovation Campus event at Lancaster University will explore game-changing initiatives and connect leaders across business and the health sector.

The event – Push the Boundaries: Innovation in Health – will feature a panel of experts who will share their experiences around how new data, digital practices and technological innovations are already being used to improve patient care.

The discussion will also cover valuable lessons around the risks and rewards of implementing digital technologies and bringing products and services to market.

The panel will include a representative from Push Doctor, a commercial online doctor consultation service which has become one of Europe’s fastest growing clinical networks. It will also consider how businesses are transforming patient care at Morecambe Bay Hospital Trust.

Lancaster University’s Data Science Institute will discuss how they are leveraging data to inform new models of working in healthcare. More than 60 businesses have already signed up to attend.

Dr Sherry Kothari, Director of the Health Innovation Campus, said: “This event showcases innovations with the potential to effect change and aims to provide companies with a useful framework for taking forward their own projects.

“The promotion of the event has generated a lot of interest from both industry and health providers and there is a genuine appetite for engaging with the sector.

“Many businesses – such as those involved in digital industries or producing specialist materials – may not directly be, or even see themselves as, working in health – but may wish to explore opportunities and diversify. It is clear that service transformation will require innovative ideas and expertise from not only traditional health leaders and industries, but also from other stakeholders and sectors.

“We hope it will be a really positive and informative event.”

The event will take place on 2 May 2019 from 8.30am to noon in the LICA building at Lancaster University.

Following the panel discussion, there will be the opportunity to network and find out more about ERDF-funded business support available to companies in Lancashire interested in the health sector.
