Calling all Santas, Dobbies launches its festive recruitment drive

With the countdown to Christmas in sight, Dobbies Garden Centre in Royston is gearing up for a magical festive season and is searching for Santas to join its team, with a full training programme available for applicants.

With a programme of great value, seasonal events, the UK’s leading garden centre retailer is searching for Santas to spread joy across Royston this year. From welcoming children into Dobbies’ grotto, to hosting Santa’s Breakfast and Santa’s Afternoon Tea experiences, Santa will make sure Christmas is extra special for everyone who visits.

Seasonal team members will begin mid-November in preparation for the opening of Santa’s Grotto, which will be back this year on the 24 November with an array of interactive elements and activities.

Sarah Murray, Partnership and Events Manager, said: “We are looking for professional and friendly Santas to create a magical experience for visitors this year in our Royston store. There will be a host of interactive elements for all ages to enjoy and we would love to find people who can bring these to life, especially those with a theatrical background or capabilities. Santa Paws will be in all Grottos too, so dog-lovers are encouraged to apply.”

Continuing from the success of last year, Dobbies’ Quiet Grottos experience will be available again across 50 stores on 9 December. The quiet festive environment has been created specifically for children with additional needs, with sound and visual elements designed to reduce anxiety.

Applicants in Royston are now invited to apply for the Santa roles, with a variety of hours available.

There will be a full training programme provided for those successful via Dobbies’ Santa School, its online learning platform. After completing the course, the new team members will have further training in the store with walk-rounds, store procedures and the chance to familiarise themselves with Santa’s Grotto/the experiences.
