National green energy firm reports record turnover and massive recruitment drive to coincide with new rebrand

National green energy firm MEG (Making Energy Greener) who have their HQ in Preston, has announced a record turnover of £6.2m in 2021, compared to £1.7m the year before, representing a 264% increase.

This turn-over figure is also set to rise to £8.5m at the end of this financial year, which fits in with the company’s ambitious growth plan and has also seen the headcount increase by 1,350% from 4 to 58 employees over the last four years.

With sites in Liverpool city centre and Preston, the family business, which is owned and operated by husband and wife team Rebecca Armstrong and Craig Stewart, is a leader in the energy services sector, delivering deep retro-fit and energy efficient heating systems for homes across the UK for over 20 years.

Rebecca Armstrong, managing director, MEG, added:

“As a family business, we worked tirelessly to support our staff members not only through the pandemic in 20/21, but also through the difficulties and challenges we faced this year due to the delay in the start of the Government’s ECO schemes caused by, amongst other things,  the war in Ukraine and the change in Prime Ministers.

“Our record growth is thanks in no small part to our incredible team! We are fully focused on a  greener future and helping the government reach its Net Zero Target, but the hard work has only just begun and we are now pushing towards extended growth in 2023/24 and beyond.”

As well as record growth figures, MEG has also rebranded from its previous name of Mersey Eco Grants, with the company actively looking to recruit further and grow across the UK, as it aims to make every home in the country an eco-home by the year 2040.

Rebecca Armstrong, added:

“Our rebrand represents a new way of living across the country, with it more important than ever before to have energy efficient homes and communities, not only for the winter, but also to regulate temperatures in the summer.

“MEG’s vision for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future will see us continue our work within the Liverpool City Region, Lancashire, the North West and the whole of the UK to bring about a ‘different way of living’, which is vital due to the rising cost of living and the green agenda.”

MEG is currently leading the green future of homes across the UK, addressing fuel poverty and reducing carbon through energy saving solutions. In 2021 it worked to install over 7,000 energy efficient measures into homes right across the country.

An accredited organisation, MEG collaborates with local authorities, energy companies, housing associations and landlords with the ambition of making every home in the country an eco-home.
