Derian House Launches Brand New Raffle That Will See Someone Win £10,000 in Time for Summer

ONE lucky winner will walk away with £10,000 in a brand new summer raffle introduced today (Monday 20th February) by Lancashire’s children’s hospice.

All proceeds of the raffle will go towards running the Chorley-based hospice which cares for more than 400 babies, children and young adults with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

Running for 10 weeks, the summer raffle will also see £2,000 handed to the second prize winner, £500 for third prize and 20 runners-up prizes of £25 given out – all in return for a £1 ticket to play.

The charity hopes to raise tens of thousands of pounds in the brand new fundraiser, which will be used to help the children it cares for to make precious memories with their loved ones in the short time they have.

Sarah Proctor, Community Fundraiser at Derian House, said: “We’re really excited to be launching our brand new summer raffle. Just think – £10,000 could buy an amazing summer holiday, a dream wedding, or even be used to put a deposit on a home.

“The more tickets people buy, the greater their chance of winning – and the more families we can help. It will cost £6 million to run Derian House this year and we rely heavily on the generosity of our supporters as we only receive a small amount of this in NHS funding.

“If 1,000 people bought just one ticket each, it would raise enough to send a family on holiday this summer to one of our accessible lodges which is incredible and would make a real difference to a family.”

One-year-old Alfie and his family, of Oldham, stayed at a Derian holiday lodge at Ribby Hall Village, near the Fylde coast.

Alfie’s dad, Steve, said: “It was a holiday we never would have dreamt of – taking Alfie out of the house can be such a challenge. There was good access to everything and the lodge was very spacious. The daytime entertainment team were really inclusive making it possible for Alfie to join in with the activities.”

The Derian House summer raffle closes for entries on midnight on Tuesday, 2 May, 2023. The winners will be announced on Friday, 12 May, 2023.

Every 10 tickets sold could allow the charity to buy art supplies for children to create treasured pieces for their loved ones, including hand and foot prints. The cost of 20 tickets could be used to enable a child to take part in an interactive session in the hospice sensory room.
