Gadsby Wicks Marks Three Decades as Specialised Solicitors in Medical Negligence

Gadsby Wicks, the leading specialist medical negligence solicitors firm in Essex and East Anglia, recently marked its 30th anniversary. Founded in 1993 by Gillian Gadsby and Roger Wicks, experts in medical negligence, the firm has established a stellar reputation for its extensive experience, skilled solicitors, and successful outcomes for numerous claimants.

To commemorate this milestone, the Gadsby Wicks team gathered for a special celebration at the Talbooth Restaurant in Dedham. Current and former staff members, along with friends, family, and guests, came together to honor the achievement. The event included a heartfelt tribute to co-founder Roger Wicks by Gillian Gadsby.

For three decades, Gadsby Wicks has been solely dedicated to medical negligence law, recognising its complexity and the significance of achieving the best results for clients. Gillian Gadsby, Managing Partner of Gadsby Wicks, explains their motivation for establishing a specialised practice:

“Both Roger and I believed that providing the level of service our clients needed and deserved was challenging within a larger general practice. Our vision was to create a firm that exclusively focuses on one area of work – medical negligence. This allowed us to concentrate our expertise where it truly matters and deliver the best service and outcomes for our clients.”

This guiding principle has remained unchanged throughout Gadsby Wicks’ three-decade journey. The firm has steadfastly adhered to its objective, recruiting solicitors with profound expertise and genuine passion for medical negligence law.

Medical negligence is a complex field, and Gadsby Wicks has always prioritised specialisation. The firm exclusively works in medical negligence and has been dedicated to serving clients who have suffered harm in the course of their healthcare. This experience and expertise have been invaluable in providing support and seeking justice on behalf of their clients.

Today, Gadsby Wicks boasts an exceptional team of medical negligence solicitors with comprehensive knowledge across various areas, including birth injuries, misdiagnosis, surgical complications, and delayed treatment. Gillian Gadsby leads the firm as Managing Partner, alongside her fellow Partners: Tami Frankel, Alan Mendham, Tony Mitty, and Corrina Mottram.

Although co-founder Roger Wicks passed away in 2016, his contributions to the firm’s growth were instrumental. Gillian Gadsby has continued to uphold the firm’s sterling reputation and fight for justice, answers, and compensation on behalf of their clients.

Gadsby Wicks has emerged as a prominent authority in clinical negligence law, not only in Essex and East Anglia but throughout the UK. The firm was the first in England to have multiple solicitors recognised as accredited clinical negligence specialists by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). With a remarkable 96% rate of claims settled outside of the courtroom, Gadsby Wicks maintains a strong track record. Gillian Gadsby serves on the Clinical Negligence Specialist Panel for the Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA) charity. The firm is a member of the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers (SCIL) and holds Lexcel accreditation. Additionally, Gadsby Wicks has established a community fund that supports local causes, including Kids Inspire, InterAct, and Essex Search and Rescue.

Gillian Gadsby emphasises the firm’s commitment to achieving the best results for clients through comprehensive investigations, collaboration with impartial medical experts, and the knowledge and compassion of their solicitors. Gadsby Wicks strives to continually raise the standards of medical negligence across the country and make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by substandard treatment.

As they celebrate 30 years, Gadsby Wicks looks ahead with gratitude for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of numerous individuals impacted by inadequate care. With a strong foundation, the firm is eager to continue progressing and inspiring initiatives that prevent others from enduring similar outcomes.
