Therapy For You Collaborates with ieso to Offer Typed Therapy

Therapy For You, the NHS Talking Therapies service catering to patients in North East and South East Essex, has partnered with ieso Online Therapy to make typed therapy available as part of its services. This collaboration, established in May 2017, aims to provide accessible and convenient therapy options for individuals seeking mental health support.

The partnership between Therapy For You and ieso Online Therapy enables patients to engage in one-to-one communication with qualified therapists via text on various devices, including phones, tablets, and computers. This remote and flexible approach aims to overcome barriers that some individuals may face with traditional face-to-face or phone therapy. By providing typed therapy, Therapy For You aims to enhance the inclusivity and accessibility of its mental health support services.

Richard Black, NHS Talking Therapies Digital Services Manager at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT), emphasised the importance of breaking down barriers to mental health support. He highlighted that for some individuals, face-to-face or phone communication can be uncomfortable, and typed therapy offers an alternative that is more comfortable and accessible.

ieso Online Therapy offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) through typed communication, focusing on helping individuals make positive changes to their thoughts and behaviors to improve their well-being. The platform’s secure and confidential interface has helped over 115,000 people since its establishment in 2000.

Users who self-refer through the ieso website are matched with a suitable therapist, and together, they schedule weekly typed therapy sessions. These sessions typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, and users are encouraged to practice exercises and techniques between sessions. The therapists monitor progress through digital questionnaires, and users can access past conversations for up to 20 years after completing their therapy.

The collaboration with ieso has expanded the treatment pathways available to Therapy For You’s service users. The convenience and flexibility of typed therapy align with Therapy For You’s mission to provide effective mental health support that caters to individual preferences and needs.

By offering typed therapy, Therapy For You and ieso aim to make mental health support more accessible, comfortable, and inclusive for individuals in North East and South East Essex. The availability of typed therapy provides an alternative that can help individuals overcome barriers to seeking therapy and support their journey towards better mental well-being.
