Desperate search for Lancashire teen missing in Tenerife continues

A desperate search is underway for Oswaldtwistle teenager Jay Slater, who has gone missing in Tenerife.

The apprentice builder (19) had been with two friends on holiday and attended a rave on Sunday night.

It is believed that Jay split from his friends as he had made two new pals, believed to be English, and that he had gone back to stay at their apartment.

Jay had called his friend at 8.15am on Monday to say he was making his way back on foot as he had missed the bus, but was lost with 1% battery charge left on his mobile.

Spanish police, sniffer dogs, drones and helicopters have been focusing their efforts near the village of Masca in the North West of Tenerife.

News reports say police have ordered the search to be moved to tourist resorts Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas near to where the teenager was staying.

Jay had shared a snap of his hand holding a cigarette at the accommodation he had gone to on Sunday with two men around 7.30am on Monday.

He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with shorts and trainers, carrying a black bag.

His phone shows his last location as the Rural de Teno park, an area popular with hikers.

A Facebook group launched to help find Jay has reached over 192,000 followers since his friends and family set it up.
