New deputy lieutenants appointed for Lancashire

Six new deputy lieutenants have been appointed by the lord-lieutenant of Lancashire, Amanda Parker JP.
They will join the existing team of deputies to help and support the lord-lieutenant in her duties as His Majesty The King’s representative in the county of Lancashire.

These duties can include arranging visits by members of The Royal family and presenting medals and awards on behalf of His Majesty The King.

The newly-commissioned Deputy Lieutenants are:

  • Banu Adam BEM – Founder and director of Arts2Heal, a creative arts-based charity in Blackburn that promotes mental health and wellbeing through therapeutic interventions.
  • Graham Baldwin (pictured) Vice chancellor of the University of Lancashire (formerly the University of Central Lancashire).
  • Caroline Broadhurst – Currently deputy CEO for the Rank Foundation and will become CEO in June 2025
  •  David Collinge – Former managing director of John Spencer Textiles Ltd in Burnley and is currently court assistant for The Worshipful Company of Weavers
  • Wes Johnson – Principal and CEO of Myerscough Agricultural College
  • Caroline Wareing – Solicitor and is currently relationship manager with Slater and Gordons Lawyers UK

Professor Baldwin said: “It is a great honour to be called upon to assist the Lord-Lieutenant as one of His Majesty’s personal representatives. As the vice chancellor of the university, which is soon to become University of Lancashire, the timing is perfect for me to help represent Lancashire and the communities we serve.

“This honour also recognises the key role that the university plays across Lancashire, including as an employer and as a civic and economic anchor, underlining its importance to the county.”
