J2 Flooring Ltd Acquires VAR Technology to Drive Innovation and Expand Global Reach

J2 Flooring Ltd, a leading provider of design-focused Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) flooring, has announced the acquisition of VAR Technology Ltd — an expert in the precision cutting and bespoke customisation of LVT products.

This acquisition marks a major step in J2 Flooring’s strategic vision, reinforcing its dedication to innovation and its ambitions for accelerated growth in both domestic and international markets.

As part of the deal, Shaun Baston — founder of VAR Technology Ltd — joins the J2 Flooring board as both Director and Shareholder. Widely regarded for his technical expertise and creative approach to LVT customisation, Shaun has pioneered innovative cutting techniques that elevate design versatility, product quality, and production efficiency. His appointment is expected to be key in shaping J2’s evolving innovation strategy.

“This is more than a commercial acquisition — it’s a strategic alliance that aligns perfectly with our vision for the future,” said Stephen Latham, Managing Director of J2 Flooring Ltd. “By integrating VAR’s exceptional technical capabilities and creative talent into the J2 business, we are enhancing our ability to innovate quickly, respond dynamically to market trends, and control every aspect of the production process from concept through to completion. This will enable us to offer our customers even more design flexibility, faster lead times, and the consistent product quality they expect from a premium supplier.”

VAR Technology is highly regarded for its ability to shape LVT into intricate formats — from geometric tiles and parquet effects to fully bespoke designs — making it a valuable partner to interior designers, architects, and distributors. The combination of J2’s robust distribution network and VAR’s specialist expertise is expected to unlock new possibilities in flooring design and delivery.

“Joining forces with J2 Flooring opens the door to a new era of design and production possibilities,” commented Shaun Baston. “This move empowers us to take our technical innovations to a broader market and to collaborate closely with J2’s talented team to bring fresh, original flooring concepts to life. Our shared goal is to push the boundaries of what’s possible with LVT — both in terms of visual impact and product performance.”

The acquisition also aligns with J2 Flooring’s wider commitment to UK manufacturing. By internalising VAR’s capabilities, the business aims to reduce overseas supply dependency, shorten lead times, and reinforce quality control at every stage.

Customers can look forward to a broader product offering, greater scope for customisation, and enhanced service as the integration progresses. International expansion is also on the horizon, with plans to target high-growth markets seeking premium, design-forward LVT solutions.

“We see this as a transformational step — one that will not only strengthen our position in the UK flooring market but also allow us to compete more effectively on a global scale,” added Stephen Latham. “We’re excited about the future and the unique value this partnership will create for our customers, suppliers, and partners.”
