Chester Charity Ball Raises £10k to Support Soul Kitchen’s Homeless Outreach

A fundraising event celebrating the tenth anniversary of Soul Kitchen Chester has generated more than £10,000 for the organisation’s services.

Held at Chester Racecourse, the ball attracted over 170 supporters who contributed to the final total of £10,232.

The funds will assist the charity in continuing its provision of meals, essential items and practical guidance for people experiencing homelessness and financial hardship.

Since its founding in 2015, Soul Kitchen Chester has expanded its outreach and food distribution work, becoming a central support service for vulnerable residents.

The evening began with a reception sponsored by Barlounge, CHANCE Clean Cider and Wrexham Lager, followed by an unexpected flash mob performance as proceedings got under way.

The event was coordinated by trustee and special advisor Steven Hesketh.

Steven said: “Our little vision came to life in a room full of people who showed up, gave big, and reminded me why our community still wins.

“By the end of it all, we raised £10,232. Just over ten grand in one night, for a charity that genuinely changes lives. That’s what happens when people come together and actually back something that matters.”

Attendees enjoyed a three-course meal prepared by Chester Racecourse and Horseradish, along with Boogie Bingo, an auction and a raffle featuring donated prizes.

Among the items were football shirts, a stay at the new Chester Zoo Reserve and a Dandy’s voucher.

Helen Anthony MBE, CEO of Soul Kitchen Chester, spoke about the challenges of homelessness locally and the charity’s daily work supporting those in need.

The event received support from local businesses including Chester Zoo, Downtown in Business, Adam Dandy, Hotel Wrexham and ASG Audio Visual.
