Skills provider strengthens team with key appointments

A Lancashire training company is preparing for its next phase of growth with two senior appointments.

North West Skills Academy, which provides training and assessment for services to the construction industry, has recruited Terri-Anne Godfrey as recruitment and marketing manager, and Nicola Saunders to the MIS department.

Both roles have been created as part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans as it grows its presence in Lancashire and Liverpool.

Terri-Anne previously worked for Manchester College while Nicola joins from Salford City College.

The pair will support the delivery of the European Social Fund (ESF) Skills Support for the Workforce programme, which will see North West Skills Academy deliver fully funded training to up to 1,000 employees working in the construction industry in the Lancashire and Liverpool LEP areas.

Their appointments are also in line with North West Skills Academy’s commitment to increase the participation of women in the construction industry.

Ashley Grayson, MIS manager at North West Skills Academy, said: “Traditionally, careers in the construction industry have been dominated by men but we’re seeing more and more women coming through our doors. Increased participation of women would go a long way towards plugging the skills gap so it’s great that we can lead by example.

“Terri-Anne and Nicola join at an exciting time as we continue to build on our success, and they will add considerable strength and expertise in their respective areas.”

The additions follow a raft of key appointments in recent months, which has included the hiring of two new assessors and the promotion of long-term employee Stephen Finch to operations manager.

Over the past four years, North West Skills Academy has grown its team from two employees to 16.
