Morecambe by Air

Morecambe Business Improvement District (BID) recently commissioned Colin Aldred, of Aerial Artwork, to overfly Morecambe and shoot aerial video and photography. The results, to say the least, are stunning as it shows Morecambe in a brilliant new light.

Shot over a day a couple of weeks ago, on one of the sunniest days of the year, the video highlights the topography and architectural heritage of one of Morecambe Bay’s gems.

Since the video was posted on BID’s Facebook page on Saturday, it has received over 29,000 unique views, and over 500 shares. The reaction to the video has been overwhelmingly positive.

Brendan Hughes, Chair of Morecambe BID, said: “This year Morecambe is very busy. The completion of the public realm works on the seafront, and Euston Road, combined with the opening of the Bay Gateway, has certainly put us on the map. Businesses are also taking note and the town is taking on a fresh look, helped by the improvement grants launched by BID late last year. We expect more businesses to take up the grants when we launch the second round later this year.”

“The video certainly does Morecambe proud and locals certainly have a lot to be proud of. The Festivals and Events calendar is fuller than ever and this year BID was the major sponsor of the Morecambe Music Festival which was an outstanding success. Another major date in Morecambe’s calendar is just around the corner with the Morecambe Carnival, shortly followed by the Vintage Festival, which is another huge crowd-puller. Finally, on November 25th, Morecambe BID is bringing a special event to town, details to be released soon”.
