New College partnership will lead to rewarding career experiences for students

A new partnership has been launched between Runshaw College and GA Pet Food Partners. Runshaw College’s strategic partnership with GA Pet Food Partners was set up by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce Young Chamber programme, which works to increase engagement for the students with the local business community to gain the skills, knowledge and experience to complement their academic qualifications.

Simon Partington, Principal, said: “All students at Runshaw benefit from access to high quality Careers Education and Guidance and are provided with a wide variety of opportunities to develop their employability skills.

We are delighted to be part of this exciting partnership with GA Pet Food Partners which will provide our students with additional opportunities to develop the skills and qualities required in the 21st century work place.”

“The development of employability skills is high on the government agenda and is required by all employers and universities. This partnership with GA Pet Foods should enhance these skills through gaining exposure to the world of work via a number of joint activities such as site visits, mock interviews and workshops. The aim at Runshaw College is that our students receive high quality Careers Education and Guidance and have an opportunity to enhance their employability skills to enable them to make informed decisions about their future. “

As part of the arrangement, the Chamber will provide mentoring and career development activities, while the College and GA Pet Foods will explore opportunities for sector-specific activities.

Andy Kettle, Joint Managing Director for the GA Pet Food Partners, said: “GA is proud to be part of this exciting initiative. Both organisations share a common passion for learning and innovation and we very much look forward to working closely for our shared mutual benefit.”

Fiona Langan, Young Chamber Manager at the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, said: “I am delighted that Runshaw College and GA Pet Food Partners have joined the Young Chamber programme.

“This partnership will provide the students at the College with a fantastic opportunity to benefit from the wide range of industry expertise available within GA Pet Food Partners and the Chamber of Commerce, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their future career direction and be more prepared for working in the future.”
