Scorpion Automotive have won the Made in the UK National Automotive Award

Now in their fifth year, Insider Media’s Made in the UK Awards honour the cream of the manufacturing industry and shine a light on the UK’s most innovative and dynamic manufacturers.

The event took place on Wednesday June 20 at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool and was compèred by TV presenter, Mark Durden-Smith. The awards brought together regional winners from the past 12 months to compete for national awards across several categories.

Scorpion Automotive collected the Made in the UK Automotive Award which recognises the achievements of manufacturers and supply chain companies in this diverse £77.5bn sector. Following in the footsteps of Jaguar Land Rover, last year’s title holders, this was a challenging category with the judge’s criteria stipulating that they were looking for:

‘The best-in-class when it comes to all elements of automotive manufacturing, concentrating on innovation and pioneering technology, alongside efficiency and sustainable growth. The judges were also looking for the company that is putting UK automotive manufacturing on a global map’.

Speaking after receiving the award, Carl James, Head of Marketing & Sales Operations at Scorpion Automotive commented: “I’m delighted to accept this award on behalf of my Scorpion colleagues. This award is dedicated to them – a diverse workforce including engineers, software developers, production, quality, tracking, procurement, sales and marketing professionals who’ve worked collaboratively and tirelessly over the last 12 months to grow our customer base in the face of fierce competition from overseas manufactured products. We now supply bespoke electronics, security and tracking systems to 22 vehicle manufacturers, fleet telematics solutions to 100’s of businesses operating fleets of vehicles and provide insurance approved, Police supported 24/7 theft tracking to tens of 1000’s of private vehicle owners. We’ve significantly expanded our global reach too with Scorpion products now sold in 16 countries spanning 6 continents”.

Mark Durden-Smith summarised the judging panel’s feedback on their decision: “Scorpion Automotive saw off tough competition to take home this trophy. The judges praised the company’s clear growth and export strategy and its investment in employee engagement.”

This award follows hot on the heels of the Made in the UK regional award and the International Transport News Award for Best Vehicle Security and Telematics Systems Provider both collected within the last 2 months.
