Residents and local mosques are being asked only to donate to licensed charities, following a spell of bogus collectors.
Pendle Borough Council has received several reports from residents who have experienced people knocking on their doors asking for donations.
Asjad Mahmood, council leader, said that while giving to charity is a key part of Ramadan, that locals should be wary of door collections.
He said: “Whilst charitable collections are a part of our society, only organisations with a license from Pendle Borough Council or registered with the Home Office Exemption, are permitted to collect donations.
“We are aware that some of those collecting are not authorised to do so – one of those being One World Humanitarian Relief.
“We would like to remind residents to be extra careful during Ramadan and not to give money to anyone turning up on their doorstep they do not know.
“Be careful of scammers and only donate if you are sure that those collecting are reputable and have a license to collect.”
