UK Body Armour Firm Defence Composites Debuts Protective Clothing for Demanding Environments

Defence Composites, a respected UK manufacturer of body armour, has unveiled a new range of British-made protective garments aimed at professionals in high-risk fields, including mental health care, special education, and frontline security.

Constructed from Kozane® Extreme – an advanced fabric that resists cuts and bites – the garments deliver discreet, lightweight protection while maintaining comfort and professional appearance. Offering defence against slashes, bites, scratches, and abrasions, the range provides practical peace of mind for those working in unpredictable and potentially dangerous situations.

“We are proud to launch our new cut, slash, and bite-resistant clothing range. This latest extensive range reinforces Defence Composites’ commitment to delivering high-performance protective solutions. We’ve listened closely to our clients, working alongside them to make sure every garment works hard in the real world. Our products give wearers the protection and comfort they need to do their jobs with confidence and set a new standard in lightweight protective clothing.”

Craig Mills, Managing Director, Defence Composites

Proven Materials, British Manufacturing

Each item in the range is produced in the UK and constructed from Kozane® Extreme—a 3D knitted textile that surpasses traditional materials such as Kevlar® in both dry and wet conditions, independently tested to EN 388:2016 and ANSI/ISEA 105 standards for cut, abrasion, tear, and puncture resistance.

“The garments are excellent,” said the Group Health & Safety Officer at SENAD. “We knew exactly what we needed, and Defence Composites delivered. Great range, high-quality materials, and a professional finish.”

Supporting Professionals Across Critical Sectors

The bite- and scratch-resistant garments are tailored for use in mental health units, SEN schools, residential care, and behavioural support settings. The range includes tops and arm guards, each customisable to suit specific job roles and levels of risk.

In parallel, the slash-resistant line is designed for security professionals working in custody environments, event venues, and public-facing roles. These garments protect vulnerable areas such as the arms and neck regions, often left exposed by conventional body armour, while maintaining a professional appearance suitable for daily operational wear.

Built for Demanding Roles

This latest innovation reinforces Defence Composites’ commitment to delivering purposeful, high-performance protective solutions. The company works in close collaboration with clients to ensure each garment meets the practical demands of their teams.

Services include:

  • Personalised consultation and product recommendations
  • Trial garments and fit testing
  • Full team rollouts and ongoing support
