Veteran BBC journalist John Sweeney features in a newly released documentary by former Emmerdale actor Daniel Coll, which explores the connections between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
Sweeney is known for his fearless investigative work covering Russia, war zones and international corruption. Throughout his career, he has reported on some of the most challenging global issues, confronting official narratives and documenting events from the frontlines of conflict, earning a reputation for rigorous and persistent journalism.
In the documentary, he offers an in-depth perspective on Trump, Putin and the war in Ukraine, highlighting key concerns, possible links and unresolved questions that continue to shape international affairs.
The film examines the dynamics of Trump’s relationship with the Kremlin and reflects on its potential significance as the conflict in Ukraine continues.
Coll, who portrayed DI Frank Blackmore in Emmerdale, has also appeared in productions such as Braveheart and Billy Elliot the Musical (Dad). He now leads a growing slate of productions through Picture Point Films, including Ordinary Heroes, a documentary project filmed over two years following British volunteers delivering humanitarian aid into Ukraine.
Additional projects include the Malta-set Falcon television series, starring Peter Andre, and the upcoming feature Santa Express with Toyah Willcox, which is due to begin filming in Peterborough later this summer.
The documentary, John Sweeney – Ukraine, Putin and Trump, is distributed by Journeyman Pictures and is currently available on YouTube.
