North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce welcomes Longridge High School as its latest Young Chamber School

Longridge High School has earned top marks after becoming the latest school to sign up to the new Young Chamber of Commerce.

The programme, recently launched by the North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce is one which schools and colleges within the Chamber’s area can join to boost prospects for pupils and students.

Young Chamber is a national scheme run locally by chambers of commerce with accreditation from the British Chambers of Commerce.

Its aim is to provide young people with a real and meaningful understanding of business, jobs, careers and the range of potential opportunities that exist once they leave education.

“I’m thrilled that Longridge High School has joined our Young Chamber programme,” said Hayley Topselvi, the Young Chamber co-ordinator.

“I’m sure this will be the start of a long partnership between both organisations; hopefully that success can inspire other schools to join Young Chamber.

“I look forward to working alongside Longridge to offer the best possible opportunities and inspiration to our entrepreneurs of tomorrow.”

Miss Janet Mason, Longridge High School’s Head of Business Studies and Careers, added: “We need to ensure that we prepare our young pupils for the world at work by recognising the importance of quality and impartial career guidance for young people.

“Our exciting partnership with the Young Chamber of Commerce will give our pupils access to and help develop the range of employability skills that employers look for in their future employees.

“Importantly, the Young Chamber will provide a link for our pupils to meet with local businesses and talk about their industry sectors and areas of expertise, this then enabling our young people to make more informed decisions about their future directions.”

Schools and colleges wishing to discuss Young Chamber membership can contact Hayley Topselvi on 01772 653000/01253 347063 or email [email protected]
