Wayne Pontin joins Nugent Santé as Non-Executive Chairman

Leading health insurance expert Wayne Pontin has joined Lancashire based Nugent Santé as their Non-Executive Chairman. This is a major coup for Nugent Santé.

Nugent Santé has experienced significant growth since its inception in January 2016 and the team currently manages over £7 million of annual premiums. With products ranging from Company Health Insurance, Health and Wellbeing Schemes, Health Cash Plans, Group Risk Schemes, International Private Medical Insurance, Travel Insurance and Dental Insurance, the team can deliver a range of innovative and tailored health insurance solutions for both businesses and individuals.

Wayne Pontin commented, “I accepted the post of Non-Executive Chairman to help develop and guide Nugent Santé through its formative years, but more importantly because I believe in the ethos and ambition of the board of directors and can testify to the professionalism of the staff and advisors. I have ambitions to lead this company by example and have no doubt we will achieve all objectives we set ourselves both domestically and through an exciting development in the International Private Medical Insurance arena.”

With 40 years’ experience in the health and wellbeing sector, Wayne also has numerous accolades to his name. In 2012 he was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” for his services to the health and wellbeing industry, and during the same year Wayne was also elected Chairman of the professional body, The Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII), a position he held for an un-precedented three years. Under Wayne’s chairmanship the CII exam IF7 was introduced, which over 1,000 advisors in the UK have now passed and Wayne was instrumental in extending membership to Insurance Providers making AMII truly industry representative.

Nugent Santé has recently become directly authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is delighted to have Wayne to support and guide them through the regulations.

Paul Nugent, Managing Director of Nugent Santé commented, “Having Wayne as our Chairman is a significant achievement for our rapidly developing company.  The health insurance market is evolving and he will be crucial in ensuring we do everything correctly under the regulation of the FCA.  Wayne brings vast experience to the business and will help us provide training, governance and strategy. Combined with my experience, we truly believe that Nugent Santé will become a major player in this industry.”

Wayne concluded, “When I first met with Paul Nugent, I felt invigorated and suddenly saw my vision of over forty years ago reincarnated! I was a colleague of his co-director and knew a little of Paul’s background, but his ambition and drive and the potential of his new organisation was amazing. Given my experience and standing in the health and wellbeing industry I passionately believe that with guidance and the correct governance this company can grow to become one of the largest independent health insurance intermediaries in the UK.”
