Local carer scoops award for outstanding service

Sarah Sladen-Mitchell, a home care coordinator for Carewatch Blackpool, has been presented with a prestigious company ‘I Care’ Award for going to great lengths to help the company continue to deliver excellence in care.

The ‘I Care’ Awards recognise exceptional achievements across the Carewatch network. Competition was fierce, but Sarah stood apart from the rest. Sarah was nominated by Samantha Bond, Regional Area Manager at Carewatch Blackpool for an outstanding 19-years of service, and consistently going above and beyond the call of duty.

Sarah has worked for Carewatch since 1999, when she discovered her true calling for care while looking after her elderly grandmother. Recently, one of Carewatch’s service users had to move. Sarah took the initiative, contacting various organisations to help the lady find alternative accommodation then settling her into her new home as she did not have family to help her.

Sarah said: “I am delighted to win this award and would like to thank my fellow staff members at Carewatch Blackpool for their support and encouragement. Career progression was made available to me at a very early stage at Carewatch, there are plenty of opportunities. Working in care is the perfect job if you like to help people, the job is hugely rewarding but sometimes very challenging, so it is great to get this recognition.”

Samantha added: “Sarah has been an outstanding and integral part of the Carewatch Blackpool team for many years, she is a well-deserved winner of this award. We always emphasise hiring highly capable and thoughtful staff and she epitomises the attributes and values we treasure.”

Established in 1993, Carewatch delivers care and support services to people across the UK, helping them regain and retain their independence.
