Lancaster University Management School announces partnership with Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University

Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) has established a new intensified international partnership with Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM).

The original partnership (established in 1989) has resulted in many student exchanges over the past 30 years. The current agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding, has recently been signed by both parties to strengthen the collaboration and maximise opportunities for the institutions to work together in areas of research, engagement and education. There will be a joint focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as part of the impact missions of both schools.

The MoU is the next step in an strengthened working relationship which began last year with the launch of a staff exchange programme; encouraging academics to share best practice and research opportunities at both campuses in Lancaster and The Netherlands. The institutions have now pledged to explore additional ways of working together, including staff and student exchange programmes, knowledge sharing events and conferences, and new executive education offerings. Promising avenues of collaboration are online programmes, joint (part-time) PhD projects, professional staff exchanges, engagement and corporate partnerships, as well as centre- and grants development.
Professor Angus Laing, Dean of Lancaster University Management School, said: “We are delighted to announce this partnership with Rotterdam School of Management which opens up exciting opportunities for closer collaboration with one of Europe’s top ranked business schools.

“Both LUMS and Rotterdam School of Management are deeply rooted in research, and by working together we can continue building on our excellence in this area by generating the highest quality international research to positively impact societies around the globe. Through collaboration, we also have opportunities to broaden our civic duties – reaching more organisations that could benefit from the latest leading research and executive education.

“At Lancaster University Management School, our strength lies within our community of students, staff, alumni and partners. We have an international network of valued partners, and our new relationship with Rotterdam strengthens LUMS’ footprint across Europe – an important commitment we have made to both staff and students.”

Professor Ansgar Richter, Dean of RSM said: “We feel privileged in intensifying the longstanding relationship with the leadership team, faculty, and staff of Lancaster University Management School. LUMS is a leading, forward looking management school within the UK with a global identity. We will be happy to share knowledge and learn from LUMS strengths in research, teaching and (regional) engagement.”
