Calling all undergraduates: new roles available at outsourced customer service provider

FM Outsource, a Bury-based provider of innovative outsourced customer service solutions, is launching a student recruitment drive to provide for its client roster of top UK brands.

Following a successful recruitment drive for customer service advisors, it is now turning to students to fill more roles that have become available ahead of the annual peak season for retailers and service providers.

Team members will have the opportunity to work on several accounts across various sectors, supporting major household names including Superdrug, Hotel Chocolat, FedEx and Pret a Manger.

The business-wide commitment to flexible and remote working allows those completing their studies to choose from various part-time shift patterns to fit around their university commitments, whilst recent graduates can take a full-time job, regardless of their location.

The business has recently implemented a new learning and development system to facilitate high standards of remote onboarding and training, with fully remote candidates now as welcome as those based in the local area of Bury.

FM Outsource offers a range of employee benefits, including access to an on-site gym and restaurant, frequent social events, and excellent bonus and career progression opportunities. It also offers an undergraduate scheme that develops graduates into ‘recruitment champions’ where they are tasked with assisting the recruitment team in funnelling in potential student recruits in exchange for a bonus.

Martin Brown, CCO at FM Outsource said: “At FM Outsource we have always welcomed students and graduates into customer service advisor roles as we have found that many of those young people become integral parts of the business for many years.

“We want to provide an environment of support and progression for young team members, for both our benefit and their career prospects. From the flexible working opportunities to the attractive benefit package, we believe we have created a workplace attractive for young people eager to start their careers, regardless of location.”

Recent research shows that the cost-of-living crisis is significantly impacting students, with four in five students considering the prospect of dropping out of university, half of which blamed money worries. Taking a flexible role with us can hopefully ease this burden to some extent as it provides a steady income, whilst still allowing students time to focus on their studies.”

Commenting on the progression opportunities, Jonny Campbell, Head of Customer Growth and Retention at FM Outsource said: “I joined the team in 2015 as an operator, with the idea of it being a temporary role for Christmas whilst I found my feet after graduation . Three months later I took a position in the marketing team which led to me becoming project lead in marketing the next year.

“With the help of the internal team, I have now reached my current role within seven years of working for the business. Whilst customer service was not something I initially had my eyes on after university, once I joined the team, I quickly developed a passion for the industry. I truly credit the great opportunities for professional development for my longevity with the company and within the industry.

“If you are a student or graduate looking for your next opportunity, take the leap and kick-start your career with us”.
