Blackburn College ranked top three in the country

Blackburn College has been named one of the best further education colleges in England in official Government tables reaffirming its status as an “outstanding education provider”.

The college – which offers A Level, Technical, Vocational and Higher Educational qualifications – has climbed three places to third place for the 2022/23 academic year for achievement rates for learners aged 16 to 19, scoring 90.7%.

Dr Fazal Dad, principal and chief executive, said: “We are incredibly proud to be in the top three providers in England, and even prouder to have consistently demonstrated that our focused investment into providing standout education is effective by climbing up the ranks year-on-year.”

This comes after the college celebrated 99% overall A-Level pass rate and 98% overall pass rate for BTEC in 2022/23.

The government’s achievement rate metric also includes student retention in addition to academic results. Dr Dad said scoring so highly nationally is a testament to the incredible support and guidance that all learners receive throughout their time at college.

He said: “We nurture talent and raise aspirations here. Student focus is paramount. Every student that comes through our door is not only given an exemplary education, but a host of experiences and opportunities to build their work-ready skills and develop into fully rounded individuals.

“This takes dedication from each and every member of staff and their commitment is reflected in what our students go on to achieve once they leave us, whether that be moving on to university or getting the first steps in their career.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to the entire Blackburn College team and our students, past and present, for their role in achieving our top five status.”
